"The Mario Kart Love Song"
"The Mario Kart Love Song"
You be my princess and I'll be your Toad
I'll follow behind you on rainbow road
Protect you from red shells wherever we go
I promise
No one can touch us if we pick up a star
If you spin out you can ride in my car
When we ride together we generate sparks
In our wheels and our hearts
The finish line
Is just around the bend
I'll pause this game
So our love will never end
Let's go again
The blue shell is coming so I'll go ahead
If you hang behind it'll hit me instead
But never look back cuz I'm down but not dead
I'll catch up to you
Don't worry about Bowser or DK
Just eat the glowing mushroom
And it'll all be ok
You be my princess and I'll be your Toad
I'll follow behind you on rainbow road
Protect you from red shells wherever we go
I promise
No one can touch us if we pick up a star
If you spin out you can ride in my car
When we ride together we generate sparks

Prom! Again?
Ahhh! What a fun weekend! So my friend from church had asked me a couple weeks ago if I had wanted to go to prom with her. I was totally down!
It's actually very surprising that she asked me. Because boy do we have a history with school dances, or rather, a lack of history with school dances. Ever since forever and a day I had known of this girl from my youth group, but never really "knew" her. When I became a sophomore in high school, she had started her freshman year and so we both started legit talking to each other (mainly because we went to the same school). Every year in high school there are a couple school dances that happen. The first one of the year was the homecoming dance where the guys would ask the girls. This was when I was still trying to break my bubble so I was still a shy kid. Outgoing, full of energy, Josh the Magic Man did not fully exist yet. Anyways, it was that time where everyone had started asking their dates with all sorts of fun creative ways. My friends were getting together a group so I had to get me a date right quick! Who else could I go to rather than the pretty girl I had just become friends with that also went to my church! I knew her twin brother too so I decided to try and get some deets as to how I could "creatively" ask her to the dance. I found out she likes goldfish. Boom. What can I do with that. After days of putting it off I just went and did it. I went over to her house while she was away, got her brother to show me where her room was, and on her bed I laid a bowl of goldfish with a card saying "Out of all the fish in the sea, you're the only one for me! Homecoming 06?"
Yeah. Go ahead. Let it out. Don't worry. Me and her are also still laughing about it to this day.
She called me shortly after she saw the message and I got the no go. FAIL.
Fast forward two years later, my senior year, her junior year. By now we had developed a super good relationship. It was good! Through our conversations I found out that she had no boy, no one to go to homecoming with. So once again I mustered up the courage to once again ask her. Let's remember that two years ago I was the shy little boy who legit used goldfish. Haha. This time I had a more better plan. For a while I had been running the powerpoint slides at youth group for Wednesday night gatherings. This was to be the night I would go at it. I had my flowers all ready to go under the sound board. The night went as usual and right at the end before everyone peaced out, I was given the "ok" to do it. After the last slide, I had made another slide with my pic and her pic on it saying "Homecoming '08?" BOOM. Everyone in the room (all 60 or so people) saw this but no matter, I was looking for her! Busted out the flowers, she said yes, DONE. We were ready to go.... or were we....
Long story short, we did not end up going. I told her we had to cancel because mainly I did not want her, my good church friend, to be exposed to the nonsense that would've happened in the group I was in. Fail. No go. I was mad I made such a stupid decision (1.To tell her we weren't going and 2.That I was going to be in a bad group) She was even more upset. EPIC fail. Anyways we eventually came to terms and things started to get ok again... until "that one girl" decided to come out of nowhere and put me under an evil spell, destroying my relationships with homecoming girl and a bunch of others.
Fast forward to present time aka spring '10. I was just finishing up my freshmen year in college and she was nearing the end of her senior year and pretty much her entire high school education. The end of the year jr/sr Prom was coming around. She was looking for a date, asked me to go, I said yes, no bailing. Good to go. Done.
We met for pictures (Side note: The girl that I went to homecoming with 2 years ago was in our group! Great friend. AND I also realized another great friend of mine was going to be in our group. Didn't know that. Totally had a blast, made the whole night even more rockin) ANYWAYS, my date looked stunning (might I point out, I ALWAYS have the prettiest girls as dates), photo op, stretch limo, dinner at Landrys (yummmm seafood) danced the night away at some jewish temple while them high schoolers were like "it's Josh the Magic Man! What are you doing here?/ Same reason you're here silly! hahaha, back to her crib for pool party, after prom at the high school, after-after prom at her crib (clean fun of course), scary movie watching, no sleep and off to church to work.
Overall it was super fun. We finally went to a dance after 4 years of failures (my fault) but in the end the weekend was fun!
Although I kinda sensed that I was just "a guy to go with" because I guess she still had feelings for her ex-bf. WHATEVES haha no big deal. We just went as friends aaaanyways!
And to top it all off, I'd say this dance was kinda like the senior prom I never had since last year when I went, it was an epic failure. Great success!!!

Love
Love is not proud
Love does not boast
Love after all matters the most
Love does not run
Love does not hide
Love does not keep locked inside
Love will sustain
Love will provide
Love will not cease at the end of time
Love will protect
Love always hopes
Love still believes when you don't
Love is the arms that are holding you
Love never fails you
Love is right here
Love is alive
Love is the way, the truth, the life
Love is the river than flows through
Love is the arms that are holding you
Love is the place you will fly to
Love never fails you
Love is patient
Love is kind
Love does not envy,
Love does not boast
Love is not rude
Love is not self-seeking
Love is not easily angered
Love keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never FAILs.

The Good Things In Life
The good things in life... They all take time.
Until you find top ramen and realize that it only takes 5 minutes for that to happen...
Othwerwise, all the good things in life take time. Celebrities don't make it to the top by just all of a suddedn writing a song and the next day have little 13 year old girls flaunting themselves at you. Politicians can't just say they want to be president one day, and the next week they are escorted around by their own team of secret service. And cookies don't just magically get put into the oven and come out nice and toasty in 30 seconds... More like ten minutes... Just too long...
The concept of patience is a very interesting one. We live in a society where everyone must have everything NOW. We live in the era of instant access. Where all you have to do is pull out a little gizmo in your pocket, press a couple buttons, and you instantly can figure out whether its going to be a sunny day or a rainy day. We are all about wanting it now. I wan't my cereal NOW. I wan't to be done with school NOW. Why can't I get that new cellphone NOW?
Now now now now. Some kids are getting so spoiled these days. I often see parents who are all about giving their kids whatever they want whenever they want (which would be NOW) and they don't stop! Kids grow up under the impression that all they have to do is ask and good thing magically come to them. No. Absolutely not the way LIFE is run.
In the REAL world, the good things in life take things like PATIENCE, HARD WORK, and PERSEVERANCE.
Take a play or a musical. I recently went to see Mary Poppins the Musical in the center for performing arts. I know about 80% of my friends would either say that it was 'gay' or they would just straight up leave halfway through. I personally appreciate sitting down and enjoying stuff like that. I'm the kind of person that would sit down and listen to an orchestra play or go and watch people act our Romeo and Juliet. Most of my other friends would pass on that chance. I would rather read the news instead of putting it into a 30 second video.
Through the past 4-5 years in my life I've learned something that I don't think many of the kids around me know. It's that from hard work comes great benefit.
When people think 'work,' they whine and groan and would only do it if they would get some sort of compensation (preferably monetary). I have a friend who owns a ridiculous estate out in the middle of nowhere (aka Parker, CO). She's got a big backyard and a big front yard. They are kind of a busy family and because of that, a bunch of weeds and stuff have grown like crazy in their front yard. I swear, there was a weed that literally grew about 4 feet tall and was all spikey and it seriously looked like something from an alien world. And there were small minions growing all over. So I told them that I would like to take the responsibility of relieving them of the monstrosities that grow in the yard. I equipped myself with a weed whacker and a lawnmower and I battled the giant monster... and won. Haha this was the first time I had ever worked with a weed whacker (more on my sheltered life later). I will say that I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Sure it was a 2 day project out in the sun. Sure I didn't know that wearing shorts while weed whacking was a bad idea (battle scars aka shards of dirt and grass IN my skin). But in the end, I had a great time.
I appreciate hard work. I don't do it to suck up. I just like working! Even if I don't get anything. Don't look to money to find happiness. That stuff will only get get you temporary happiness.
Good things aren't always through hard work either! I absolutely enjoy spending quality time with people. I love just hanging out with people. Even if we don't do anything. I could totally sit there and be watching tv or on Facebook and still enjoy it as long as someone is there next to me.
Don't miss all the good things in life. They might just be the simplest, smallest things in your everyday world...
